Testimonials
"As a CAP tutor/mentor I have had the chance to help a lot of different people; it is really great to be able to help my fellow peers. Sometimes they need help with homework and other times they want someone to talk to; I believe that we provide both services very well. I have also done a variety of community service projects such as highway clean up and helping with our book drive. It is a really great chance for us to feel like we are making an impact on a larger scale."

"My participation in the M3C program has defined the beginning of my college career, giving me an opportunity to be involved in work that I love, with an outside structure that allows me to see my participation in the greater sense. Although it was hard in the beginning to find the time and energy to do my work, it has turned out to be the most rewarding part of my education thus far."

“It is really awesome going every week and helping the same kids. I can see the progress they are making, and they are excited when I am there. I started teaching one of the students division and another has really progressed in his reading skills.”

"At the end of March, I am using my Spring Break to help clean up various suburbs in New Orleans. I must say that I am excited. I not only get to change my life by experiencing this first-hand but I also get to work alongside of other students as we give our time and whatever else we have in our hearts to these people. When volunteering, I get to step outside of myself and understand the greater causes for doing what I do. To some, M3C is merely a scholarship program. To me, M3C means there is a life I am making a difference in, even if it is simply my own."

“The most valuable thing that I have received from this program is the opportunity to work with kids. I am an education major and the experiences will help me in the future. I am learning different approaches of mentoring kids and also realizing that each child has different capabilities.“

"Through this program, I was able to volunteer at a battered women’s advocacy center, serve a meal at a homeless shelter, assist with a downtown renovation project, speak about drug and alcohol abuse to local students, help with a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party at an elementary student, and coordinate a Boxes and Walls Museum at our university to encourage diversity and tolerance. These are all activities that have brought me great personal satisfaction and enriched my life. I have met great people in the community and at school who are excited about making a difference. Every project I work on makes me more excited for the next and has firmly established the spirit of volunteerism and community activism as one of my core values."
